REGION 10 MT.RANCH/EMERY RESERVOIR Look at map carefully as this region is north of region 9 to include Sheep Ranch Road to, Fricot City, Cave City, Mt. Ranch, and all side roads. Emery Reservoir wis a very productive place but is on private property so arrangements must be made ahead of time. The owner is Fred Heck of M-24 Ranch, phone 754-5635, 9390 Lakeside Dr. Mtn Ranch. He is knowledgeable about birds! California Caverns had reported owls so it might be wise to go there very early in the morning. Also Delta College has a Natural Resources Field Station on E. Murray Creek Road which is worth walking around. This whole area can be divided up into two or three parties if there are enough participants- it yields different birds from the higher elevations. The road between Mountain Ranch, Emery Res. and Sheep Ranch is a good road to take, stop at every habitat change, especially open fields and streams. Take side roads as time permits and bird residential areas carefully. As you drive Sheep Ranch Road from Mountain Ranch to Sheep Ranch and then take Fricot City Road. Do not Count in Sheep Ranch itself as that is now in Region 13. Basically stop counting at the Fire Station and Start counting again when you are on Fricot City Road. Note boundaries between regions 9, 10, 12, 13 and 14.
