REGION 2 BLUE LAKE SPRINGS Mainly the area bounded by highway 4 and Moran Road. Start where Moran Road turns off of Highway 4 at Blue Lake Springs and go down Moran Road to Love Creek Road, covering only the north side of Moran road. Starting at Love Creek Road cover both sides of Moran Road down to the Avery Transfer Station. Go down Seagale* to McKay's dam covering both sides of Seagale but do not take any of the side roads, (but do include around the Avery Middle School) come back up and continue on Moran to point below Avery where Moran joins Highway 4 and drive up Highway 4 to Blue Lake Springs covering as much of the area South of Highway 4 as is accessible. The best birding area is the area the top of the hill bounded by Grizzly Ridge, Lilac Park, and Blue Lake Springs- behind Anna Lee Way. Also the ranch along Moran by the Transfer station and the old Boy Scout camp have some reliable birds. This area is best done by walking for long periods of time and driving between stops.

*Seagale now has a locked gate on it about .5 mile from the Transfer station so go to it and check out birds at the creek. To finish the road you must go down Love Creek Road (about 1.5 miles) taking the first sharp right (4NO6) and then turn left on 4N38. It is a gravel road and has a sign “River 5 miles”. About 1 mile before the river is a gate that is sometimes locked but it still might be worth walking a way to the river. If you can drive to the river you can cross the bridge and bird the road area until the State Park boundary or to the first locked gate, whichever comes first. In some ways this road belongs in region 3 but that would give 3 too much area to cover and 2 not enough. It is a moot point anyway because many years there is too much snow to cover this road.

Regions 2 and 3 really are one large area divided into 2 parties. Someday these regions could be lumped into one region and then new counters could divide it any way they wanted.

REGION 3 LOVE CREEK ROAD/FLY IN ACRES South side of Moran from Highway 4 to Love Creek Road. Love Creek Road down to park or river. Both sides of Love creek including side roads to but not including Seagale Road (road to McKay's Dam-road numbers 4N06 and 4N38)*. Includes part of Blue Lake Springs, the Sequoia Golf Course, Pinebrook residences and lake.

*In some ways Seagale Road belongs in region 3 but that would give 3 too much area to cover and 2 not enough so it is better to have Region 2 do this road in the years that there is not too much snow to cover it
